Speedball and Chaos Engine return

[PC] Remakes of classic old-school games in 2007

Friday 29 September 2006
Remakes of Speedball 2 and The Chaos Engine, two legendary games from British super-developer The Bitmap Brothers, are planned for release on PC next year - although details are scarce on enhancements or changes that will be made to the classic old-school romps.

Speedball 2 was a top-down sports game, inspired by 1975 flick Rollerball, that emphasised violent tackles over sportsmanship and gave you a metal ball to hurl around the courts - or into other men's faces.

The Chaos Engine was a superb blast-fest featuring such iconic characters as The Gentleman and The Preacher, and eventually graced Nintendo's SNES and Sega's Mega Drive in the mid-'90s.

Screens and details are thin on the ground (as in, non-existent) right now but we're feverishly imagining how next-gen PC hardware can soup-up the already triple-A gameplay boasted by both classic titles. We'll be keeping our eyes on the news horizon for updates, so stay with GamesRadar for the latest info.
