But regardless of whether you chose to mechanize Seth or preserve his humanity, you will always be able to rely on your personal combat droid for back up and support. Currently codenamed by the development team as HR-V (and affectionately pronounced as Harvey), this orange bot will act as your right-hand mech, helping you blast apart the Kerak and progress through the game.

As you advance, upgrading Harvey will play a significant role in combat. For example, “You might want to customize your hero to make him a master with guns and long-range weapons and then you’ll customize your robot to increase his health, and armor, and durability so that he’ll go in and hold the front lines while you take pot shots from the back,” explained Gas Powered Game’s Daniel Achterman.
From what we’ve seen during our brief demo of the game, we’re not expecting Space Siege to revolutionize the action/RPG genre with any out-of-this-world graphics or unheard of gameplay mechanics. But with seasoned professionals like Taylor and Achterman - who have leveled up their game designing skills over the years with hits like Dungeon Siege - we are expecting Space Siege to be a compelling and addictive title worth keeping an eye on. The game is still in the early stages of development and is currently penciled in for a 2008 release. While you’re waiting, head to the Images tab above for the latest spacey screens.
