Space Siege - new screens

First look at the spiritual successor to Dungeon Siege series

New screenshots and details on Space Siege, the spiritual successor to the Dungeon Siege series, have emerged. The game throws you in the shoes of Seth Walker, a robotics expert who’s charged with the task of saving humanity from the Kerak, an alien race bent on wiping out mankind.

As you progress through the game, you’ll need to make choices about whether or not you’ll replace your human parts with mechanical upgrades. For example, you may find yourself faced with the dilemma as to whether or not you should trade in your arm for a powerful machine gun. Sounds like a no-brainer right?

But even though making Seth more of a machine will undoubtedly aid him greatly in combat, giving up too much of his original self may introduce problems of their own. The real rub is that as you trade your flesh for metal, Seth’s humanity meter goes down, and you’ll find that NPCs may begin to distrust, fear, and even loathe you. “That’s a choice that we’re giving the player as our main hook. How much do you trade off your human side for cybernetics to make your way through the game and to save humanity?” explained lead designer, Chris Taylor.

But that’s not to say that there aren’t any advantages to preserving your natural body parts. Expect skills and weapons that will only be available to players who choose to keep Seth's humanity meter high.
