Space Siege

A dungeon crawler series sheds its medieval skin for a cold, steely sci-fi exterior. Sadly the gameplay hasn't really been made over - boring combat, little to no customization, and some braindead design choices squander the game's potential. 4 player co-op can't even liven up this clunky, dull RPG.

First look at the spiritual successor to Dungeon Siege series
Jul 18, 2007
With every siege-able dungeon on Earth now thoroughly sieged, Gas Powered Games’ Space Siege goes not-so-boldly where few action RPGs have gone before - to a cavernous starship in the inky blackness of space. ...

Are you man enough to become a machine?
Jun 16, 2008
When we last checked in on Space Siege, Chris Taylor’s classic action role-playing game series Dungeon Siege series was spinning off into the future, trading goblins for aliens (exchange rate: 2.4 aliens per goblin). While clearly a rehash of three-year-old Dungeon Siege II technology, SS shares the same dungeon-crawling appeal transplanted to a new setting, and introduces substantial new gameplay elements and philosophical questions ...   » Read Full Space Siege preview

Yes, there really is a siege in space, just replace a dungeon with a massive ship
May 16, 2008
There’s nothing too deep or life-encompassing about Space Siege. It is, like its goblin-bound forebear, Dungeon Siege, basically about the hack and slash. This time, however, the slash is done with an arm-mounted laser-swordfork thing, and the hack is, well, more like a blast. Grenades, electrical discharges, blazing autocannons: you’re reaping revenge as a hi-tech cyborg killer on a technology curve that would make the Terminator blush. ...   » Read Full Space Siege preview

Chris Taylor, the best excited designer ever, shouts excitedly at us
Feb 6, 2008
Despite its name share, Gas Powered Games’ Space Siege is making big departures from its dungeon-dwelling predecessor. “In Space Siege,” says ever-enthusiastic honcho Chris Taylor, “We’re not adhering to any old-school system. We’re not just carrying features along like baggage, we’re dumping it if it doesn’t make sense.”And he’s not joking either: “We’ve dropped ...   » Read Full Space Siege preview

We talk to Chris Taylor about his forthcoming space-based RPG epic
Aug 1, 2007
It's an impressive list. Total Annihilation. Dungeon Siege. Supreme Commander. So it's hardly surprising that, as the first tantalizing tidbits of information trickle into our inboxes, proclaiming that games development legend Chris Taylor (the man behind these three PC gaming leviathans) is working on a brand-new space-based RPG called Space Siege. Also joining us for our chat is lead designer Daniel Achterman. Staying true to the frenetic action-RPG formula that brought Gas Powered Games ...   » Read Full Space Siege preview
