Soldier of Fortune: Payback

Kotaku's Brian Crecente writes: Our first-ever Game of the Year awards was a pretty straight forward deal. I asked all of the writers to submit a list of three games for each category and the three that showed up most in each category made it as a finalist. Once we had the list of finalists I asked each writer to go through and order the finalists and then tallied the vote. The one with the most points was named Game of the Year, the runner-up was named Not Quite Game of the Year. The game with the most votes for Worst Game of the Year received that dubious honor. Super Mario Galaxy won Kotaku's Overall Game of the Year award. Uncharted: Drake's Fortune came as second, it won the Not Quite Game of the Year award. (Kotaku posted the overall results as a separate post, see the link at the Alternative Sources below for more details.)

Soldier of Fortune: Payback is all golden baby. The Xbox 360 and PC versions of the game will be out on the 13th and the PS3 version will be out on the 20th of this month. Destructoid got their hands on some new screen shots, but more importantly, they also got the Achievement list... You Achievement addicts will probably be pleased with this list as some of them look to be extremely easy to earn.

Oct 25, 2007 "Blood and Gore", "Drug Reference", "Intense Violence", "Sexual Themes", "Strong Language". When a video blares these 'rating watchwords' before kicking off, you know you're about to watch something worth your while. And such is the case with this new Soldier of Fortune: Payback trailer. It plays out like a recruitment advert, showing a burly fellow hurdling artillery bombardments and gunning down 'locals' in a vague Middle-Eastern location. It bellows that mercenaries are wanted

Gameplayer just received a release schedule from Activision with a bunch of confirmed launch dates and the Aussie pricing structure for the various GHIII bundles.

Rumors circulating yesterday on the return of Activision's ultra-violent FPS series Soldier of Fortune are indeed true, according to follow-up reports. Kenn Hoekstra, a former employee of Raven Software that developed the SOF games, has posted on Blue's News forums confirming the existence of Pay Back, at the same time informing that Raven is not actually developing the sequel and "it's Activision Value that's publishing it." As to who is developing Pay Back, it's thought it could be

Rumor is circulating that Activision's ultra-violent Soldier of Fortune FPS series is set to make a comeback on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360. According to Worthplaying, Soldier of Fortune: Pay Back is currently penciled in for a November release. E3 is being eyed for an official announcement on the sequel. Activision was unavailable for comment on the rumor at the time of writing, so we'll just have to wait and see. It's been a good few years since the last Soldier of Fortune game, Double Helix.
