S2 Games has released an update for their free-to-play FPS/RTS/Action RPG hybird Savage 2: A Tortured Soul, now available for download.
An update has been released for action RPG Savage 2: A Tortured Soul and is now available through Steam. The large patch brings 3 new maps, a new 'Team Manager' panel along with some additional fixes and improvements.
Savage 2: A Tortured Soul, S2 Games' multiplayer battlefield game, is now free (as in beer). Just download the game, create an account, and you're off. Why bother, though? Well, it's a pretty well-received game, especially by users. The main reason, though, is the main gameplay mechanic- one player on each team acts as a "general" of sorts on the battlefield, and plays the game like an RTS. The other 62 players act as the units, and play the game as an action RPG/ FPS (i.e. they do the fighting). Not bad for a free game, especially as Windows, Mac, and Linux users can all enjoy it.
Savage 2: A Tortured Soul, a FPS/RTS hybrid, is now available to play for free. It is the sequel to Savage: Battle For Newerth and Savage 2 is a fun game with impressive graphics and game play mechanics. The skinny on this free Savage 2 is that it's basically Natural Selection but with Humans vs Beastmen. The problem with Savage 2 was that there aren't many players at this point, and well, there wasn't that many to begin with when the game was released a year ago either.

Delivering on the promise to continually update and support Savage 2, this marks the second in a series of free, sizable content updates that other publishers might ordinarily charge for.

S2 Games are adding over 30 achievements to Savage 2. Each individual achievement has a Silver and Gold level. Obviously the Silver is more obtainable than the Gold. As each achievement is earned the player account receives a free Persistent Item Scratcher. These are unique "lottery style" tickets that allow you to select 1 of 3 covered squares for each of the 4 attributes (enhancement type/amount, passive regen increase, passive stat increase, consumable increase) of a Persistent Item in Savage 2. If you're lucky, you could scratch a higher end item by selecting the right squares.
Next week, the real-time strategy and first-person action hybrid online game, Savage 2, will receive its first free-to-download content update (aptly named Free Content Patch 1). For the straight skinny on what to expect, be sure to check the Savage 2 dev blog on 1UP from March 19 to 21. Developer S2 Games will reveal new details on its plans for clan matching integration, achievement system, and new maps each day.
