Its not exactly a new idea: take charge of an ancient civilization and lead them into war. Upgrade your soldiers, develop super-weapons and destroy any differently-colored enemy you come across. Rise & Fall: Civilizations at War marches a well-worn path, but it tries to do a few things differently along the way.

First among those is the hero. Each civilization can summon a hero to fight on its behalf - one that you control. With a simple double-click, you “possess” the leader of ...
Midway has released a new trailer of its forthcoming PC game Rise & Fall: Civilizations at War, due for release in June, and, as luck would have it, you can view it now by right-clicking the link above and saving it to your desktop.

The movie shows some epic battle scenes, featuring hundreds of foot soldiers, a jam-packed arena and a horse trampling some unsuspecting subordinate. ...
Wednesday 12 April 2006
When Stainless Steel Studios was pulled as developer for action-slash-strategy game Rise & Fall: Civilizations at War, the game was almost cast into the black hole of development limbo. But, with Midway's in-house development team now at the helm and a confident summer release on the horizon, things are looking good for this promising genre-bending RTS.

With an exclusive playable demo of Rise & Fall appearing on this month's PC Gamer cover disc - on sale tomorrow - we ...
By using traditional RTS mechanics and spicing them up with third-person action, Stainless Steel Studios' Rise & Fall: Civilizations at War was definitely one strategy game that stood out from the crowd at the 2005 E3 games show in LA.

Our first look at the game piqued our interest and left us eager to explore the hands-on aspect of battle in greater detail, so when the developer dropped by to give us a demonstration we were quick to grab the mouse and get stuck in.

While the RTS gameplay is ...
Rise and Fall: Civilizations at War is a "historical" strategy game that takes more creative license with history than the time you brought your parent's car home with an empty tank and a sticky back seat. But like historical movies, breathing new life into legendary icons is where the fun is, and liberties can be taken.

Thanks in part to the Total War series, the cinematic scope of epic battles in strategy games has grown bigger than ever. Rise and Fall looks like it will set that bar even ...
We've rustled up a trailer and some new screens for Rise & Fall: Civilizations at War, the once-doomed, now looming strategy game that enables you to jump right into a conflict as the hero leader of your armies.

The trailer gives some idea of the scale of the battles you'll get involved with, alongside hammer-wielding warrior lords and armoured elephants.

Thanks to its mix of Dynasty Warriors-style frontline action and a tactical passion synonymous with the Total War series, Rise & Fall will ...
Midway has confirmed that Rise & Fall: Civilizations at War, the real time strategy title from doomed developer Stainless Steel Studios, will be released in June.

The game, which was at risk of being sucked into development limbo after the collapse of Stainless Steel last November, has been passed to Midway's internal developers in San Diego - and these screens suggest that the game hasn't suffered in the transition.

With experience on both Heroes of Might and Magic and Lords of EverQuest, ...
