What’s the best part of any car race? The mad crazy wrecks. Hockey game? When a 6’5” Czech man-beast levels a lesser player with a right hook. Ultimate fighting? The whole thing. We like seeing people destroy each other; it’s in our blood. Or maybe it’s in their blood, and the way it spills everywhere and inspires unanimous ‘YEAHs from stadiums full of adrenaline junkies too timid to risk their own ...

You can look at graphics, gameplay complexity, or as we’re about to illustrate, how your character actually dies in the game. As technology improved, so did the deaths suffered by the myriad protagonists, eventually progressing to the point where, today, you live through that death in the first person, forced to watch your hero’s grisly final moments ...

id Software's CEO Todd Hollenshead has revealed that videogame piracy "has pushed id as being multiplatform."

In a lecture on videogame piracy during last week's GDC, he explained that the Doom and Quake developer started to eye console platforms as a method to battle the financial loss piracy incurs.

Enemy Territory: Quake Wars was given as an example of id's multiplatform direction. Originally in development for PC at the hands of Splash Damage and id Software, the multiplayer-focused ...
Early on in the sci-fi shooter Quake 4, one of your fellow space marines barks, "I do my job and shut the hell up, just like you should." This might have been the mantra of the designers, too - Quake 4 is here to kick some ass, not question the nature of its existence. That's a shame, because there's a twist to this first-person shooter that could have led to greater things; instead, the game feels uninspired and uninspiring

The big surprise in Quake 4 isn't really a surprise - halfway through ...

It appears that NVIDIA SLI owners cannot run the recently released Prey demo. NVIDIA has issued a statement with a workaround as well as word on an upcoming driver patch:

A few enthusiasts have commented that the recent Prey demo does not support NVIDIA SLI. NVIDIA is currently testing a Prey SLI profile, which we expect to release later this week in a new driver on nZone.com.

In the meantime, users can simply copy and paste the Quake 4 profile to make Prey scale. Prey and Quake 4 were developed with the DOOM 3 (OpenGL) engine, and SLI scales very well on Quake 4.

NVIDIA recommends users download the new 91.31 Forceware drivers for Prey. This driver works great on the Prey demo with all NVIDIA GPUs.
