  • We can't quite put our finger on what makes ParaWorld 's unique brand of dinosaur stomping real-time strategy gameplay such pure awesomesauce. Sure, commanding a legion of ballista-launching Triceratopses made our inner third-graders swoon, but the delicious visuals and attention to details satisfied our grown-up side at the same time. Digging into the long, dry tutorial was a bit of a stumbling start, but our patient mentor gave us a thorough layout of the building types and units. Keeping

  • Above: We've also got lots of gameplay footage from PAYDAY: The Heist inside

We love Left 4 Dead. So when we first heard about PAYDAY: The Heist, a four-player co-op shooter that finds you and three other friends teaming up to pull off over-the-top armed robberies, Valve’s zombie shooter was much on our minds. But before we could even ask about whether the PAYDAY team looked to L4D as a source for inspiration, developer OverKill’s Ulf Andersson took the words right out of our mouth. “It’s definitely, a lot like Left 4 Dead,” said Andersson with a huge smile…

  • We were very impressed with PAYDAY: The Heist when we last played it at E3 2011. The four-player co-op shooter is clearly inspired by Valve’s Left 4 Dead – but instead of coming off as a cheap knock-off, PAYDAY continues to impress, upping the ante for the kind of teamwork required as you break down doors, bust through safes, and make off with loot in epic capers inspired by the development team’s favorite heist scenes in movies…

  • It's been a long time coming, but the first installment of Penny Arcade Adventures - based on the snarky, game-industry-savaging webcomic Penny Arcade - is just months away from completion. If you've been paying attention to the game up until now, though, you'll already know that it has little to do with the strip's modern-day antics, instead re-imagining its characters as paranormal detectives in the creepy, monster-infested burg of New Arcadia. And you won't really play as either of them,
  • Back from the dead, the third episode of the Penny Arcade Adventure series shifts gears, turning towards the aesthetic of a 16-bit RPG with an itty-bitty price point and several new platforms. We go hands-on at PAX East to find out more...

  • Among gamers, the Penny Arcade name is synonomous with enthusiasm for all things gaming, and an eclectic sense of humor all its own. The upcoming third Rainslick adventure is no exception, and it packs a 16-bit twist...

  • Thursday 5 October 2006 With Phantasy Star Universe heading for a November launch, we've had the chance to take a tour of the online action. As any fan is aware - and if you aren't a fan, now you know - multiplayer is where Phantasy Star Online really shined and the same seems to be true of PSU. Your adventure begins with character creation and there are more options than ever. Outside of your sex and build, most of these can be changed later at various shops. Unlike PSO character data is
  • Welcome back to our continuing coverage of Phantasy Star Universe. Lots has come to light since last week, so let's jump right in. For starters, we've finally gotten a good sense of the game's three planets, Parum, Neudaiz and Moatoob, and each has its own very unique look and feel. Parum is the first one you'll visit, and it's your typical lush, green paradise. Oddly, however, it's ruled by the Cast race, androids that helped restore the planet after past conflicts and who often harbor
