Running With Scissors, developers of the infamous POSTAL series, claim to have received an American flag as thanks for their support of troops in Iraq. The flag is said to have been the one flown in Iraq on July 4th.

The flag was mailed to Vince Desi, the company's founder, along with two certificates of authenticity.

Says Desi: "We kept getting letters from the troops asking how they could obtain the various POSTAL games, t-shirts and other items. We figured the easiest way was to simply give it to them." Running With Scissors proceeded to make a number of "air drops" of POSTAL games, the company claims.

"This is why we made POSTAL, and why we will continue to exercise our rights and freely express ourselves, because of the great men and women who bravely serve and protect us," said Desi.

Just how serious Desi and Running With Scissors are is perhaps debatable, given how darkly satirical its games are. The company claims its members are long-time supporters of the US military, and want to "show that support in a tangible way."

While the PC and Xbox 360 iterations of Postal III were tentatively slated for release in Q2 2009, Jaret noted that those two editions are now more likely to arrive in "mid-to-late 2009."

However, he was unable to provide an estimated release date for the PS3 version, attributing the uncertainty to technical concerns in utilizing the game's licensed Source engine on the platform.

Only one game utilizing Valve's Source engine technology, its mega-compilation The Orange Box, has been released on PS3. While the PC and Xbox 360 versions of the title were developed internally at Valve, the PS3 port was outsourced to EA UK, and was widely chastised for its performance issues compared to the other editions.
In these short articles we will tell you what games we want on the PLAYSTATION 3 from other consoles, why, and developer's comments on them. You might just hear something unexpected and we might just have an exclusive. This week is POSTAL III. Hit the jump to see why, the possibility, and what CEO Vince Desi has to say about it. "

"Developer's Comment: When we contacted Running With Scissor's CEO Vince Desi, he replied stating something very good for PLAYSTATION 3 owners. "We are now in the early stage of designing POSTAL III for the PS3. Every developer has their own approach, so while we started first on the Xbox 360, we are now committing to the PS3 as well, and hopefully who knows maybe even the Wii." So there you have it, POSTAL III is coming to the PLAYSTATION 3 and you heard it from us."
The first rule for games journalists when it comes to interviewing notorious developers is not to do your research on Wikipedia. Which is why we asked Postal IIIs developers about ‘murderer lifestyles.

“Thats bullshit!” cries outraged Running With Scissors CEO Vince Desi. A slightly less outraged lead designer Steve Wik picks up the baton: “There are no ‘murder lifestyles in Postal III. What we do have are three paths: The Good, The Bad and The Insane. The idea ...
