East Carolina Universitys Psychophysiology Lab and Biofeedback Clinic has completed a study on the effect of casual games on sufferers of depression. The results are not only very positive but could in fact be extremely important in the field of mental health. Nearly 60 subjects, half of whom served as controls, all meeting the criteria of clinical depression, participated in the study, which had them playing one of either Bejeweled 2, Peggle or Bookworm Adventures.
