WorthPlaying writes, If you happen to be an avid casual game player (or not so casual even) you're probably familiar with Peggle. It's on many platforms, but it isn't on Facebook. In May, developer PlayQ launched HotShot on Facebook which appears to be a straight-up copy of Peggle.

In a world where every angry mothers group and crazy TV News station in America is trying to get games banned by quoting studies that show they make people angry, violent and down right crazy rapists, its a breath of fresh air when a study like this one comes along. East Carolina Universitys Psychophysiology Lab and Biofeedback Clinic has completed a study on the effect of casual games on sufferers of depression. The results are not only very positive but could in fact be extremely important in the field of mental health. Nearly 60 subjects, half of whom served as controls, all meeting the criteria of clinical depression, participated in the study, which had them playing one of either Bejeweled 2, Peggle or Bookworm Adventures. (All of the games are made by PopCap Games, underwriter of the study.)

We had confirmed that some sort of puzzle system would be utilized as the base, but it took a while to decide which one exactly to go with. The intention for this game had always been to have a single-player focus, so instead of going for a versus-styled interface, we wanted something that would make the enemy-ally positioning very clear, the Gyromancer team said to Siliconera in an interview. With this mindset, PopCap games like Zuma and Peggle were actually brought up as candidates.

Today, PoPCap Games released a World of Warcraft-themed version of Peggle for free. This special edition comes packed with ten new levels for you to bounce and grind through as Bjorn the Unicorn and some other un-horsey character named Splork. PoPCap hasn’t skimped on the WoW-related jokes and puns. There are tons of lol-worthy gags for WoW fans to enjoy with references to Leeroy Jenkins, famous bosses, and scenes based on memorable dungeons and cities

PopCap have teamed up with WoW, using typical Peggle-ish levels and WoW-themed backgrounds, to create the version of Peggle. The game features 10 levels, Quick Play and Challenge modes, and even a multiplayer Duel mode. Quitting out of it nets you a trial of the full Peggle game and a 10-day trial to WoW.
