Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising

GrE writes, "Operation Flashpoint isn't just any old shooter. It's a tactical shooter in the very strictest sense. Even now, original Xbox gamers speak reverently in lowered tones when referring to this masterpiece. So it's understandable, that its sequel, the cumbersomely-titled Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising is one of the big releases of October 2009. Actually, scratch that – 2009 period..."

Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising

GOONL!NE writes: 'Oh, you lucky, lucky people.
There's over 12 and a half minutes of Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising gameplay in these videos, and another 12 minute interview. Suffice to say, the game's a far cry from Far Cry, with a mix of hardcore, realistic damage, ballistics, armor, vehicles, weapons, island layout and a whole lot of lead to the face.' Here's part one to get you going.

Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising

Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising releases this October and there has been lots of information released as to who is fighting who and where but whats the fighting all about. Who would have thought that an Island of the cost of Russia would be a battle ground for all out war between Russia and China and who would have thought that of all the countries to come to the aid of the Russian Army it would be the United States of America. Well it a funny thing but the fictional Island of Skira in Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising is just that place were all this is about to happen and as with all wars over territory there is usually an ulterior motive.
The history of the Island dates back to the original occupation of China back in 1409 and war raged on the Island in 1905 between Russia and Japan but what has happened recently to cause such an international incident and why do the Chinese Army want to take back what they found all those hundreds of years ago.

Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising

The guys at PCGH had the chance to play an advanced version of Operation Flashpoint (2): Dragon Rising at Gamescom. While the ingame graphics didn't reach the trailers' quality, it really looked good. Save games loaded in 10 seconds, that would a nice feature in the final game. AI was good, according to the report.

News about the Halo movie have surfaced, or more-so why the movie itself won't be surfacing. A new debut trailer was recently made available for the innovative new Aspyr shooter, DreamKiller and id Software's Rage, and Nintendo announced that they are going to win back hardcore gamers with an inflatable horse. Way to go Nintendo, you really know how to hit all the right notes for keeping the fans pleased. These stories and more in the Blend Games Weekly Recap for August 15th."

According to Codemasters Operation Flashpoint 2: Dragon Rising will, like its predecessor, support the amBx technology of Philips which is supposed to make combat in the military simulation more lifelike. Philips' amBX uses light of different colors, sound, vibrations and even airstream to enhance what is shown on the display. Producer Darren Campion said that using the night vision equipment in Operation Flashpoint 2: Dragon Rising would cause the amBX system to react and thus make the gaming experience more realistic.
