Friday 27 July 2007 The sequel to last year's decent WTCC game Race is almost upon us, and we've been taking the work-in-progress Alpha version for a quick trip around the block. A few things have changed since last year - there are now 3D spectators at the edge of the track, which the developer admits aren't going to win any awards under scrutiny, but they help the atmosphere a little. There's also a helmet cam, which lets you see through the eyes of your driver, and remove tear-off strips ...

Sept 10, 2007 Put pedal to the metal! Or something. SimBin's released a demo of its PC racing sim Race 07: Official WTCC Game, which features two tracks and online multiplayer that supports up to 24 petrol heads. Anderstorp, Sweden and Brands Hatch, UK, are the tracks in question, and the cars available include the BMW E90 and the Seat, along with the Formula 3000 class. OnLive Beta sign-up begins (Race Driver: GRID)

The official website of OnLive launched last night. If you haven't heard about, it's the newly unveiled internet-based game delivery service.

A beta sign-up form is now online. The requirements listed for signing up in the OnLive beta testing is: "You need to be at least 18, based in the US and have a broadband-connected PC running Windows Vista®/XP®, or an Intel®-based Mac." The beta is set to begin soon, in summer 2009.

MCV Industry Excellence Awards 2009 Finalists Announced (Race Driver: GRID)

Taking place on Thursday April 23rd at The Brewery, Chiswell Street, London, this year's MCV Industry Excellence Awards will be the most hotly-contested ever, with 17 accolades up for grabs, across a diverse range of categories covering the entire industry.

Nintendo, EA, Ubisoft, Microsoft, Sega and Activision will battle it out for the Games Publisher Award, whilst individual titles Guitar Hero World Tour, GTA IV, FIFA 09, Fallout 3, Wii Fit and Call of Duty: World At War compete for Game Campaign.

Second GRID DLC Car Confimed as VW W12 Nardo. (Race Driver: GRID)

Codemasters have revealed the second car to be included in the upcoming DLC pack for GRID to be the VW W12 Nardo.

The game expansion will feature the car that set several world endurance records for speed and distance at the Nardo test track in southern Italy, believed to be the first time this specific version of the car has been used in a videogame.

Codemasters Responds to GRID Complaints (Race Driver: GRID)

Codemasters has responded to irate Race Driver: GRID fans that were stripped of their hard earned ranks in the recent server-wide reset.

"Given the number of reports we've had of people abusing the ranking system to get unfair ranks, it was only fair that we did a reset," said Rich Tysoe, Codemasters' motorsports overseer, on the community forum.

"It's never an easy decision to make, and we'd rather it hadn't come to this, but changes in the patch should make gaining those ranking points back fairer.

Codemasters confirms first car for GRID DLC pack with Livery Competition. (Race Driver: GRID)

Codemasters have launched a Competition offering people the chance to get a livery they've designed featured in the upcoming DLC car pack for GRID.

Entrants have to design a livery for the McLaren F1 GTR '95, which is the first car confirmed to be in the pack.

Race Driver Grid Patch 1.1 Released (Race Driver: GRID)

Codemasters have released the first patch for Race Driver Grid which brings the game to version 1.1 However please note that this version of the patch only works with the PC-DVD version of the game and not if you have downloaded the game from Steam, Metaboli or Direct2Drive. Patches for the downloaded version of the game should be available "within days".
