PC - Unreal Tournament - Epic Games on Steam! Epic Games and Valve have set off the PR fireworks this morning, revealing that the Unreal developer's vast catalogue of, erm, Unreal games are now available for purchase through Steam. The Epic shooters now available on Steam include Unreal Gold, Unreal II: The Awakening and every Unreal Tournament EVER made (apart from, oddly, Unreal Tournament 2003 - perhaps Epic wants to forget about that one?) PC - Unreal Tournament - New UT III demo details CVG reports: "Epic's Unreal Tournament III demo for PC will feature three maps and two of game's six multiplayer modes, it's being reported. Deathmatch and Vehicle Capture the Flag are the modes that will be included, Epic deciding to leave biggie Warfare out."

"Warfare's a new mode for UT. It's a combination of Assault and Onslaught modes from previous games in the series, and it involves two teams battling for control of nodes on a map and ultimately trying to destroy the opposition's core. Anyway, apparently one of the levels will definitely be Deathmatch map HeatRay - a "destroyed urban environment that features a lone DarkWalker which is dropped in at specified times during the match" - while a second is likely Deathmatch level ShangriLa which features Asian-themed architecture."

"A final and third level will be Vehicle Capture the Flag map Suspense, which is set on a huge suspension bridge and the action occurring on, above and below the structure."

Epic said earlier in the week that it hopes to have the demo out "within two weeks".

And it's coming to the PC, PlayStation 3 and Microsoft's Xbox 360 in the second half of 2007.

PC - Unreal Tournament - Want Matchmaking in Unreal Tournament 2007? If Battlefield has taught us anything, developing a proper server browser isn't easy -- or maybe DICE just sucks at it. Anyway, Halo 2's pairings based on skill makes the process incredibly easy. Just some friends, set a few variables for match type and a minute or two later you're firing away. Turns out Epic Games thinks that might work for Unreal Tournament 2007, too.

PC - Unreal Tournament - Unreal Anthology revealed An announcement from Midway that it's scored retail publishing rights to select existing PC games in the Unreal stable is accompanied by news on plans to release Unreal collection, Unreal Anthology.

Scheduled for release in the autumn - in the US anyway, where it'll retail at 29.95 USD - Unreal Anthology contains the original Unreal FPS (including expansion Return to Na Pali), Unreal II: The Awakening, Unreal Tournament: Game of the year Edition and Unreal Tournament 2004: Editors Choice Edition.

PC - Unreal Tournament 2003 - Legendary Pictures Negotiating Epic Games Purchase Legendary Pictures, the film production company that is currently co-financing the Gears of War film adaption, is currently in talks to buy Gears developer Epic Games, according to Variety.

The report has apparently been corroborated by multiple sources, though neither company involved has issued any official statements.
Variety notes that if the deal closes, Legendary will become the first film financier to invest directly in a game developer.
