PC - Quake 4 - NVIDIA SLI Workaround For Prey Demo It appears that NVIDIA SLI owners cannot run the recently released Prey demo. NVIDIA has issued a statement with a workaround as well as word on an upcoming driver patch:

A few enthusiasts have commented that the recent Prey demo does not support NVIDIA SLI. NVIDIA is currently testing a Prey SLI profile, which we expect to release later this week in a new driver on nZone.com.

In the meantime, users can simply copy and paste the Quake 4 profile to make Prey scale. Prey and Quake 4 were developed with the DOOM 3 (OpenGL) engine, and SLI scales very well on Quake 4.

NVIDIA recommends users download the new 91.31 Forceware drivers for Prey. This driver works great on the Prey demo with all NVIDIA GPUs.

PC - Quake Live - Mac and Linux support added to Quake Live As promised last week at QuakeCon, id Software has now added Mac and Linux support for their browser based free-to-play first person shooter Quake Live. In their release notes, they mention that for now Mac support is confined to Apple's Safari browser but they hope to have Firefox Mac support up and running soon.

This update contains several substantial changes to Quake Live that have required a great deal of time and testing. Streamlined account registration and plug-in installation process, dozens of lost awards, competition features, and spectator/shoutcaster additions are included.

Stratton also posted information regarding the game update policies for Quake Live, which is important for all league and tournament players; from now on updates will arrive on a Tuesdays, but not every Tuesday.

PC - Quake Live - Quarantine rounds off Quake Live six maps campaign id Software has now concluded its six maps in six weeks event by releasing the sixth entirely new arena, Quarantine.

For the sixth and last week of its campaign, id Software today delivered Quarantine, a totally new arena which was created by designer Yan 'Method' Ostretsov, the author of the campaign's week-two CTF arena Siberia and other popular Clan Arena maps 'Trinity' and 'Asylum'.
