PC - Mabinogi - Teenage Boy Hacks, Steals for Princess Dress Kotaku Brian Ashcraft writes:

It all started with a gothic Lolita dress. A 16 year-old Japanese gamer has been arrested by cops from Tokyo Metropolitan Police's "Hi-Tech Crimes Control Center" for stealing 36 million yen (US $325,000) worth of virtual currency that's used in online RPG Mabinogi. The teen obtained the ID and password of an employee at the Tokyo branch of Korean game company NEXON. With that info, he accessed the company's servers and filled his virtual pockets with in-game money. He allegedly converted amount 600,000 yen ($5,500) into real cash, which he spent on books and software.

PC - Machinarium - Pre-order and downloading troubles for Machinarium Gamers who have been eagerly awaiting the release of point-and-click adventure Machinarium are, in many cases, having to wait a little while longer to play their purchased copy.

Amanita Design's new release, which released via digital download channels and the developer's own website today, has proven so popular that excited players have managed to overload the server.

While those downloading the game through services such as Steam and GamersGate appear to be experiencing no problems, those who purchased directly from Amanita - which, on Wednesday, Resolution Magazine urged players to do, as the independent studio sees a higher profit as a result - have been facing error messages and intolerably slow download times - in some cases, as high as 11 hours for the roughly 350 megabyte game.

The problems arrive shortly after Amanita Design's announcement that some players may have to wait until the end of the weekend to receive their pre-ordered copies of the game.
