The first paid expansion for Lord of the Rings Online has just been announced at the Connect Event in Birmingham.
Publisher and developer Midway has released the results of its holiday quarter and full year, showing Q4 sales falling to $77.6 million, and losses rising considerably from $2 million in 2006 to $29.7 million, with execs saying the company has "overcome many of [its] technology hurdles" for a "smoother" 2008.
Codemasters Online and Turbine Inc announced today that this years Connect '08 event will be the staging area for a major worldwide unveiling for The Lord of the Rings Online.

Tolkien to 2014 with additional options to extend the rights until 2017."
According to the article, Turbine has extended the license with Tolkien Enterprises not only for Lord of The Rings online, but also for making The Hobbit MMORPGs.
