PC - Kung Fu Panda - More from Activision's conference call: New CoD, James Bond game Here are some more highlights from Activision's conference call with financial analysts earlier today:

- As expected a new Call of Duty game is due for release in the 2009 fiscal year (again most likely this fall). No other details were revealed except that PS2 and Wii platforms will join the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC platforms for the next game in the shooter series.

- As usual for Activision, the company will not release any new games for the current fiscal quarter that ends on March 31. The next quarter will see the release of the game based on Dreamworks's CGI movie Kung Fu Panda along with more downloadable content for Guitar Hero III and Call of Duty 4. The company will also release games later in the year based on another Dreamworks CGI movie Madagascar II.

- The James Bond game is still due for release this fall, around the time of the new movie's release. No other details on the game were announced.

PC - Kwari - Kwari shuts down GamesIndustry.biz reports: Kwari, the skill-based online site that was set to launch at the beginning of this year, has gone into receivership.

The project, which had aimed to provide gamers with a free-to-play first-person shooter game in which contestants would wager on the outcome of matches using microtransactions, failed to spark as a successful business model.

The company had intended to make money by charging for the purchase of in-game ammunition, with players taking any winnings made on the match bets and other jackpots available.

PC - Kwari - Online Shooter Brings Cash-For-Kills Gaming To U.S., Only In States Where It's Legal MTV Multiplayer writes: "Ever wanted to translate your gaming skills into dollar bills?

Now's your chance.

In the online multiplayer first-person shooter called "Kwari," players go can head-to-head to win jackpots of cash.

Launched in early January in Europe, "Kwari" is a free downloadable game - but you have to spend money to make money. The ammo will cost you five bucks for 5,000 bullets, and that's the only cut that publisher Kwari Limited gets. The money for the jackpots is pooled together from real money spent on in-game goods - weapons, health upgrades and self-inflicted injuries - and it stays strictly in-game. With Visa, Mastercard and PayPal on board, "Kwari" looks to set its sights beyond Europe."

PC News from N4G | Kwari
PC - Kwari - Kwari, new FPS driven by real cash for kills London-based Kwari is aiming to shake up the multiplayer online gaming scene in a major way with its PC first-person shooter Kwari, which brings real cash to the forefront of frag action.

Kwari, reckons Kwari (that could get confusing), "will potentially change the PC gaming landscape forever" and explains that it's a game where players make money off each other in real-time.

"The game will ultimately be free to download online, but instead of being subscription based it will use a unique free-to-play/pay-to-play model whereby Kwari sells the player ammunition in place of flat rate charges or monthly subscriptions", the company has said.

Players fighting it out in Kwari for cash set up an account, are then matched on the basis of skill and enter a game at a pre-agreed stake level ranging from 1c to $1 a hit.
