Water, as we all know, is vital for many things such as survival and, of course, swimming. But now Codemasters is attempting to make it indispensable for real-time strategy games with the release of Maelstrom for PC on 30 September.

A clued-up computing student has created a modification for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion that enables two-player jaunts into the gigantic world of Cyrodiil. Unbelievable? Just head over to the mod's official site and you can download a video showing it in action.

Only 25% of Half-Life 2: Episode One gamers have managed to complete the first in the H-L2 trilogy, despite the game taking, on average, just five hours to complete.
