Wednesday 23 August 2006 Massively multiplayer PC RPG workhorse Ultima Online (currently in its ninth year, so possibly older than the newest generation of gamers) is to be given a sweeping overhaul next year in the Kingdom Reborn expansion. Most obvious is a graphical upgrade: while UO won't be moving out of its old school, isometric 3D look, soft lighting and smoothed visuals will make it less eye-searingly retro. Developer EA also promises "many, many more suprises in store" for players,

Warren Spector and his new dev house Junction Point might not be blabbing fully about its first, top secret project yet, but it's emerged that the studio has signed a deal with Vivendi. Reported in Game Developer magazine, the publisher is obviously happy to let Spector's creative juices flow and supports his plan for an experience that's very much story-driven. Since we first found out Phoenix Wright was in UMVC3, we excitedly speculated just how a character known for talking and presenting evidence could beat up the Hulk. With today’s first videos of Ace Attorney gameplay (plus footage of Marvel’s top space knight, Nova), the mystery is revealed. TAKE THAT!

Galactus may not be Jack Kirby and Stan Lee’s most important gift to comics when compared to Iron Man, Captain America, the X-Men, Avengers, or Fantastic Four, but he’s still a pretty big deal, and the kind of cosmic threat worthy of being a game’s final boss. Obviously playing as him in a normal match would break the game, but we still yearn to feel a fraction of his humungous power, and Capcom is finally going to give us a taste. This weekend Capcom confirmed a new playable Galactus mode is in Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 along with Galactus-centric, post-launch free DLC...
