A German branch of PETA, the worldwide animal rights organization that apparently uses Minority Report-esque technology to predict and fight future animal crimes, is taking Battlefield 3 to task over its murderous treatment of virtual rats; a treatment, it says, that will motivate young men to practice their rat-killing impulses on real life victims...
The last time we heard from BioShock Infinite voice actors Troy Baker and Courtnee Draper, they were chatting with series creator Ken Levine about the nuances of playing game's leading roles. In part two of Irrational Games' 'People Behind Booker and Elizabeth' video series, we find out how BioShock Infinite's dialogue came together from a mix of strong writing, insightful direction, and somewhat awkward recording sessions...
Earlier today we posted a trailer for DLC Quest, an Xbox Live Indie game that lampoons downloadable content. Since then, many of you have checked out the short, sweet game and loved it.
Now, we've purchased the "Interview with the Developer" DLC pack, which we're hoping gives some insight into the creative process of this inventive (and cheap!) indie game...
EverQuest sure has a lot of stamina. Fans of the long running MMO can look forward to the release of the series’ 18th expansion, Veil of Alaris, on November 15 with a new max level of 95, improved guild halls, 13 raids, 12 zones, over 500 new spells, and over a 100 new quests. In the meantime, Sony Online Entertainment has released a new video teasing the new Pillars of Alra zone featured in the expansion…
Deus Ex: Human Revolution has proven itself the star of the last six months for Square-Enix, with 2.18 copies of the shooter sold in the US and Europe over the past two quarters – despite the game being available for less than half of that time. This success boosted the company's profits to more than twice what it had initially predicted for the period, and should finally make the executives who pulled the trigger on the Eidos purchase feel good about their decision....
Valve's Steam forums were taken offline today after a potential hacker intrusion. The hack manifested itself in the form of a “Notices” banner advertising cheat community Fkn0wned. Reddit users also reported spam emails from Fkn0wned or redirects toward the community's forum board. However, this was also soon taken down, replaced with a notice denying Fkn0wned's participation in the hack...
There are basically a million things to love about Portal 2,
like Wheatley’s evil laugh or the touching finale, but Aperture CEO Cave
Johnson stands out as a man among men. He may have tricked hobos into taking
experimental drugs and poisoned people with asbestos, but he did it with a
unique flare of individuality that’s magnetic. Thanks to the good people at ThinkGeek
soon you’ll be able to be inspired by Cave all day long with a talking portrait
of the big man.
A few months back, Activision launched a mini-convention of sorts called the Call of Duty XP, which looked to take the Call of Duty fandom to the next level by providing die-hard fans with an entire convention devoted entirely to the FPS. Among the promised items was a copy of the Hardened Edition of the game, which was said to be sent out at launch. But with the release a day away, XP attendees were greeted with a special surprise: the game actually shipped early to many of them, giving access to the game a full day before everyone else...
Right in time for Mojang's upcoming Las Vegas-based Minecraft-focused gaming
convention, MineCon, the indie developer has announced something that few indie
developers ever get to announce: their game has sold over four million copies
since release. Mojang's Markus Persson (or, as his friends call him, notch) made the announcement official on Twitter, tweeting, "4milyay."
Not bad for a game that's still in beta (it's set to officially launch this month, dropping the "beta" moniker and going to full-blown 1.0)...
BioWare has released a single, solitary piece of game art teasing its yet-to-be-announced project, which is slated to be unveiled in full during Spike TV's 2011 Video Game Awards (VGA). It may not be much to go on, but we can say with absolutely certainty that the mystery project will have something to do with vehicles, clear skies, crashes, and a poor dude wearing a bullet belt...
