Neverwinter Nights 2 updated impressions

With create-your-own adventure tools like these, you may never buy another game

And while we’re on the subject of customization, one sore point with many fans of the original was that the interface could have used some work. So for NWN2, the game interface itself is now user-modifiable. In general, it’s possible to switch between a “classic” NWN interface and a more streamlined version with spells just a single button click away. Or, if you really want to get into it, you can use XML to completely edit the interface, even adding new skins, which ties into the toolset for completely customizable user mods.

Neverwinter Nights 2 is currently slated for a September release, pushed back from its original date in June. This is actually a good thing, because the one thing that seriously marred developer Obsidian's last game was that the rush to get it out for the holidays left it buggy as hell - a lack of time, not talent. Hopefully, Neverwinter Nights 2 will live up to expectations and potential.
