Variety: A couple of weeks ago, we posted word that recent Atari acquisition Cryptic Studios was working on breathing life into several Atari legacy titles. Now we've got a few more details to share. Sources tell us that the developer is working on a massively multiplayer online (MMO) version of Neverwinter Nights with an eyed 2011 release. Details about the project are unavailable, naturally, as it is an unannounced title. But this reportedly was the primary reason Atari was interested in acquiring Cryptic late last year. (The developer is currently working on Champions Online and Star Trek Online.) Based on the third edition Dungeon and Dragons rules, NWN is a well-loved franchise. The first installment of the role-playing game was developed by fan-favorite Bioware in 2002. A sequel, developed by Obsidian Entertainment, came out in 2006 to slightly less favorable, but still solid, reviews.

Electronic Theatre has received confirmation from ATARI that the second expansion to the much-loved Neverwinter Nights 2 PC game, Neverwinter Nights 2: Storm of Zehir, is now available for download at the UK ATARI Store for just £19.99...

Obsidian Entertainment is working on a new expansion pack for Neverwinter Nights 2, tentatively titled Storm of the Zehir.

According to the Neverwinter Nights Vault, the game will be set after the defeat of the King of Shadows in the original campaign.

It's promised that the game will be non-linear in a way never before seen in the NWN series. Players can form their own party of adventurers instead of being grouped with NPCs

It starts with your ship arriving at Westgate. The first mate wakes you up to tell you that they're approaching the harbor. After a brief exchange of dialog, he stops talking, no matter what you say. He stands there strangely silent and unresponsive. A couple of winged demons appear and the first mate's eyes go red and menacing. Something is terribly wrong. And then you wake up for real. An unassuming cloth mask you've found had turned sleep into sweat-filled torture.

VideoGamer.com reports that Atari's quarter three financial results have revealed a number of new titles currently lined-up for release in the publishers coming fiscal year (ending March 31, 2009): The biggest is one we already know about, Alone in the Dark, which should release in May for Xbox 360, PC, PS2 and Wii. A PS3 version is to follow at a later date. Alone in the Dark is to be joined in the summer by PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 FPS Legendary. New to our knowledge is Airborne Rangers for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. There's no info, but it could be a new game based on a game of the same name released in the late 80s by MicroProse. It saw players taking on the role of a sole airborne ranger and infiltrating enemy territory to complete objectives.
