It’s a package that makes no sense - the least satisfying handling imaginable tacked onto a game which has elected to drop all that made NFS popular and unique. In throwing away the freedom of the streets, the chance to do your own thing without competing, and the occasional ‘lawks! It’s the fuzz!’ moment and ensuing police chase, EA might have gained a lick of credibility from the tuning set, but they’ve turned NFS into just another driving game. Without the old bill, open world and silly plot, ProStreet’s mediocrity has no place to hide, and we’re fast approaching the point where we’ll need a Need for Speed Airborne or some other drastic measure to ‘fix’ a series rapidly being run into the ground.
