Midway has reaffirmed plans to deliver a &quot;next generation&quot; version of long-running series Mortal Kombat in a recent financial report.

Currently the company&#39;s not shedding any further light, but Mortal Kombat creator Ed Boon revealed that the title will be built from the ground up when we spoke with him earlier in the year.

&quot;Our goal, graphically, with this game is to be as gritty... To me, when I saw Gears of War, I was like, Holy shit! That&#39;s the look that we&#39;ve been talking about... Visually, that&#39;s what we want to do,&quot; he explained in an interview with Game Informer.
