Electronic Arts has issued a new patch for Medal of Honor: Airborne, updating the World War 2 shooter to version 1.3. Despite the 1.05 GB download size this is an incremental patch; you'll need version 1.2 installed already.
Patch 1.3 adds two new maps, two weapons, a new Objective Mode multiplayer mode, and fixes several more bugs. The retail multiplayer maps have also been updated to include the Objective Mode.

Gearbox Software president Randy Pitchford has described Brothers in Arms competitor Medal of Honor as a franchise "in trouble".
"It's a great franchise, and a lot of people love it, but I think somebody really needs to get hold of that franchise who cares about the subject matter and understands what the real promise and the fantasy is", Pitchford told CVG today at a press event in London.
EA's Medal of Honor series blew gamers' socks off when Allied Assault launched on PC, but the series has never experienced the same accolade since.

Folks that have been eagerly awaiting the release of EA's Medal of Honor: Airborne on PC will be pleased to hear that a PC demo is now available.
Weighing in at 1.27GB, the demo is single-player and we're assuming features the same content as the Xbox 360 demo - Operation Husky, which finds you fighting as part of the 82nd Airborne on Sicily (we say assuming as we're still downloading the demo).

Earlier this week, EA confirmed that Medal of Honor Airborne for PS3 would be arriving in November this year, as opposed to the August 28 release date for the Xbox 360 and PC versions.
Executive producer Patrick Gilmore told Next-Gen in a phone interview today that the Airborne team had received PS3 dev kits "a little bit later" than Xbox 360 and PC, and those two SKUs have "always" been ahead of the PS3 version.
He said that the PS3 version is "looking good," but added, "We want to release on PS3 when we can deliver a much more polished and complete experience." Gilmore wants to make sure that Sixaxis functionality with the PS3 version is up to par, and said he doesn't want to "shortchange" PS3 owners.

Anyone who has been following Medal of Honor: Airborne will be well aware that a major gameplay feature in the WWII FPS sequel is "go anywhere," i.e. the ability to parachute into any part of a level and begin the fight against the Nazi war machine from there.

What makes Medal of Honor: Airborne different from the rest of the FPS crowd is, well you know, the air drops. Each mission begins with an "In the Plane" sequence that ends with you getting out of the plane from several thousand feet in the air. Once you're out of the plane, there is no loading time or sequenced mission objectives (even saving the game is seamless), and it's up to you where to land.
