Analysts Upbeat On Take-Two's Lineup, GTA 5 May Arrive Next Year (News)

Take-Two's current fiscal year holds few major game releases, but analysts said investors should look further into the future, when games like BioShock 2, Max Payne 3, and a new Grand Theft Auto hit shelves.

"Despite the execution missteps, we think that Take-Two shares should be valued on next year's earnings, and believe that solid profits next year and a GTA announcement will trigger outsized share appreciation," wrote Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter in a research note this week. He expects Take-Two to release Max Payne 3, Mafia 2, Red Dead Redemption, BioShock 2, and The Agent in fiscal 2010, which begins in November 2009.

Joystiq: "UK retail site PLAY has Max Payne 3 all set for an October 30, 2009 bullet-timed released. When Live Playstation followed up with the retail outlet for comment on where it got the date, the site was told the gaming chain was given the information by 'the developers of the game.'

We followed up with Rockstar Games -- the publisher -- and a representative stated it hasn't announced a release date. In fact, all the rep could do was refer us to the corporate announcement that the game was coming this winter. If things change, we'll be sure to update."

..The developers at Rockstar Vancouver plan to cast someone older but it won't be a well known name actor this time. Hey, as long as it's not Mark Wahlberg.

The latest issue of Game Informer has some juicy new details on Rockstar's Max Payne 3. Max is now bald, bearded and addicted to pain killers. Which has an affect on the gameplay. Max has hit rock bottom in every sense of the word and has found himself in Sao Palo, Brazil. Max Payne 3 is looking visually very similar to Uncharted 2 (stunning), with vibrant colors and fully destructible environments - all powered by Rockstar's RAGE engine and a procedural animation system.
