DC Universe is looking to be one of Sony's top exclusives, let alone one of the most interesting MMO games coming out. Its an obvious move that Marvel is somewhere in their footsteps planning to do the same thing with their characters, but what ever happened? Marvel did sign a deal with Microsoft for exclusive rights to make an MMO game on the 360 which was to be developed by Cryptic Studios. That, however, was abandoned recently and is no longer being made.

There continues to be some strange happenings over at former City of Heroes (and Villains) developer Cryptic Studios. After 1UP broke word the Microsoft, Marvel and Cryptic collaboration, Marvel Universe Online for Xbox 360 and PC, was in danger of complete cancellation (with neither party willing to state otherwise,) comes some bizarre changes over at the studio's website. As of late last week, Cryptic has closed down both their developer blog and their message boards.

The official Cryptic Studios forums have the announcement, and 1UP has more speculation.

Marvel Universe Online's development has "hit serious development troubles," 1UP's Patrick Klepek reported on Tuesday, November 13.

1UP citing anonymous inside source says that the MMO - in development for Xbox 360 and Windows Vista by the Marvel, Microsoft and Cryptic Studios partnership - is either "dead" or in "serious trouble."
