Maple Story

A (semi-) free MMORPG that proves that you get what you pay for

Maple Story almost feels like an entry-level MMORPG. New players will enjoy powering up their character, questing with friends (better bring 'em with you, though, 'cause you won't make many here) and going shopping for clothes. Veteran MMORPG players, however, will be turned off by the shallow character development, lack of things to do and the boring, sterile setting. The unfriendly community and grind factor at later levels are also major fun roadblocks. Maple Story is good in small doses, but those who want a deep, fulfilling MMORPG should look elsewhere.

You'll love
  • Charming, colorful 2D graphics
  • No need for a superpowered PC
  • Simple, easy-to-learn gameplay
You'll hate
  • Most other players being jerks
  • Beating up snails over and over
  • Spending $10 for a new hairdo
