Experience the destructive strategy action of Maelstrom, the RTS title from KDV Games, in the new multiplayer PC playable demo now available to download from www.codemasters.com/maelstrom

With organic bases, terraforming and totally destructible environments, the new demo enables players to sample two new multiplayer maps; also playable in single-player mode.

In the first two-player map, "Top of the Hill", players command either the resourceful Remnants or the fearless Hai-Genti alien force in a race to destroy the opposition enemy base. The first to the summit controls the water pump at the top of the hill so strategic terraforming and dam building will be crucial for the Remnants to save their base from possible flooding by the aquatic aliens.

The second four-player map, "Lair of the Devil", enables players to again compete as either the human guerrilla fighting Remnants or the collective hive-mind of the Hai-Genti aliens. This map is a barren and volcanic vision of the future, one of the 14 multiplayer maps available in the full game.

Developed by KDV Games, Maelstrom is published by Codemasters and is now available for PC. To sample the action in the demo, or view the gameplay videos, visit www.codemasters.com/maelstrom
Life after the apocalypse is going to be tough, but we think well cope with the help of our survival kit. Buried in an old biscuit tin at the bottom of a garden weve got a pair of studded shoulder pads, an eye patch, a mohawk wig, a battered leather jacket and a rust-streaked Hummer. How did we manage to fit so many post-apocalyptic clichés into such a small container? Lets just say we got a few tips from KDV ...
Swirling together a post-apocalyptic worldwide conflict between the surviving "haves" and "have-nots" of Earth with some cranky alien squatters makes for a confusing mix of combatants. As every Real-time Strategy fan worth his weight in dirt-farming knows, the key to victory is a keen knowledge of his units and their abilities. Fortunately we're here to help by bringing you the skinny on the three warring factions of Maelstrom, the forthcoming terrain-altering RTS from KDV Games and ...
Transforming vehicles, aqua crazy aliens, and gigantic mechs of Voltron proportions left us anxious for more after playing the latest preview build of KDV Games real-time strategy, Maelstrom.

We realized that Maelstrom was more than meets the eye once we played a few missions with the techno-crazy Ascension. Relying heavily on their advanced technology, each of their buildings can transform into vehicles, meaning that you can move your base about the map as you expand your forces. Vehicles ...
KDV's last game, Perimeter, was as an oblique a take on the real-time strategy game (while still clearly being one) as you can possibly imagine. But its sales didn't match the rave reviews it received. Maelstrom is essentially KDV turning away from the frontier it reached to build upon its new-found land.

The upcoming strategy game Maelstrom plans to give us every possible disaster all at once. The human race is split into two warring factions fighting over the last remaining resources after multiple global cataclysms... just before an alien invasion. Nice timing, guys.

Tuesday 27 June 2006
Water, as we all know, is vital for many things such as survival and, of course, swimming. But now Codemasters is attempting to make it indispensable for real-time strategy games with the release of Maelstrom for PC on 30 September.

The action is set in a post-apocalyptic vision of Earth where three factions are struggling for power. Firstly there's the Ascension, a huge corporation that is intent on conquering Earth with its hugely advanced technology.

Struggling against ...
The upcoming future sci-fi strategy game Maelstrom sends an enormous meteor to our planet, wiping out most of us and causing an ecologic catastrophe. The remaining humans divide into two groups and try to strangle each other for the most precious resource of all: water. Then the aliens come. The dinosaurs had it easy...

After the meteor hits in 2015, the ecosystem collapses. The last remaining human factions - ...
