It's been at least two years since The Lord of the Rings Online was first announced (albeit under the name Middle-Earth Online), but it looks like players will need to wait a bit longer before wandering around a massively multiplayer Shire. Codemasters has snapped up the rights to bring Lord of the Rings Online: Shadows of Angmar to European gamers later this year. The game is currently in development by Turbine Inc, who has been lovingly recreating JRR Tolkien's Middle-Earth for MMORPG purposes.
