It's official. NHN USA, a subsidiary of NHN, the largest Korean Internet company, announced today that it has secured the rights to publish the long-awaited Huxley in North America and Western Europe. Bringing online gamers everywhere closer to the chance to exercise their fragging skills against thousands of other players in the first twitch-action massively multiplayer online first-person shooting (FPS) game Huxley, the online shooter is slated to arrive on the PC via ijji.com in late 2008.

Online first-person shooter Huxley has finally found a publisher that will release the game through an online portal later this year.

Distributor NHN USA has confirmed it has picked up the rights to publish the title in North America and Western Europe.

Huxley is an MMOFPS utilizing the Unreal Engine 3 that takes place in a post-apocalyptic world. Human beings have mutated and are divided into two opposing races, Sapiens and Alternative, who are forced to battle against one another to gain control of the world and its resources.

The second stage of testing for the massively multiplayer online first-person shooting (MMOFPS) game will take place from Dec. 13-17, 2007, in Korea. Registration for new local testers will begin in November, though gamers who took part in the first CBT will be able to participate as well.

1UP is reporting that Huxley closed beta has opened for 999 lucky Koreans. The short beta period lasts only five days, but in that time those selected will be able to try the team death match and radar domination modes, along with more of the core structure of the MMO aspects, such as quest mode.

To speed along the process of testing, players are being started at level 19 so they can use more advanced weapons, defense capabilities, and skill sets.

As previously reported on Gamasutra, Korean developer Webzen has officially announced that it has sold Chinese rights to its MMO Huxley to major operator The9 for $35 million. According to the company, the new $35 million agreement marks the largest export license in the history of Korean online game developers when additional profit sharing such as revenues and in-game ads are taken into consideration.
