We were excited by Heroes of Annihilated Empires E3 trailer - which teased us with a brief shot of screaming fighter jets after showing waves of elves and undead crashing against each other - suggesting a refreshing mix of science fiction and high fantasy where modern planes and rifle toting marines might do battle with dragons and elven archers. This episodic fantasy real-time strategy-vs-role-playing game will introduce new playable races and units in chunks, keeping gameplay fresh every six to nine months. Based on the appearance of early screens, designers seem to be taking design cues from turn-based masterwork Heroes of Might and Magic V and letting us run rampant over their beautiful world in real-time.
