Haze
Despite the unenthusiastic and often mediocre reviews and scores given to Haze, according to Develop, the game developers news site, Haze has come in as a new entry at number 12,just under Rock Band, the highest climber. It even beat the mighty Age of Conan which has come in as a new entry at number 13.
Now that's not bad for a game with overall below average mixed reviews. Perhaps this is another indicator of reviewers being out of touch with what gamers in the real world get their kicks from.

Ubisoft has told CVG that the official stance on Haze remains that it's exclusive to PS3 "for now", in response to recent reports that the FPS will never come to 360.
Stories on the 'net today report that unnamed Ubisoft spokespersons attending the Play.com Live event in Wembley Stadium, London, over the weekend confirmed that the nectar-fuelled shooter will only ever appear on PS3.

Haze, developed by Free Radical Design, was previously scheduled for a fiscal Q4 release, which would've been sometime in the January-March quarter.
Ubisoft said in an earnings release Wednesday it would raise 2008-2009 sales forecasts to €1 billion (about $1.5 billion) because of the game's delay, up from previous guidance of €975 million (about $1.4 billion).

Ubisoft has offloaded its weekly release schedule, revealing a handful of delays for its 2008 shooters Far Cry 2, Haze and Brothers in Arms.
As if we didn't know already, the French publisher has confirmed that Free Radical shooter Haze won't make it into the shops this year, and is now destined for release in "early 2008".

Pacific Crest Securities' Evan Wilson says new version of Nintendo's portable complete; holiday release torrent creating retail woes.
Wilson notes that not all games will be affected by insufficient retail space. "Clearly, the end-of-year squeeze creates limited space at retail, which limits the size of initial orders of games with less publicity and reorders of games with lower quality." He anticipates games with high preorder rates such as Guitar Hero III, Call of Duty 4, Assassins' Creed, Mass Effect, WWE, and Rock Band to be less affected by insufficient retail space. "Titles that could be at risk of getting squeezed," he continues, "include Haze, Kane & Lynch, and Uncharted."

Korn, in a buzz of extra-curricular activity, has written an exclusive track for Free Radical's forthcoming FPS Haze. Yes, Korn the rock band. No, theyre not dead.
Korn's track is to air on the radio waves and video next month, to coincide with the launch of Haze on PS3. You'll be able to buy the track from online music download sites, too. We havent heard the tune yet, but theres evidence of lots of Korn hair.

Haze-related news, rumor and speculation have been doing the Internet-rounds over the weekend regarding the fact that the game is a PS3-exclusive. You may recall Spong's coverage of Sony exclusives as mentioned at E3 in which Haze was pegged as PS3-only at least until the end of the year.
This - plus comments made a Leipzig, plus the fact that all mention of any other platforms has been removed from Free Radical's Haze web-pages - has apparently lead to the conclusion that the game will be PS3 exclusive.
So, Spong spoke to a representative at Ubisoft who spoke slowly and clearly to Spong, explaining, "Basically at E3 it was announced that the game would be PS3 exclusive for Christmas. That's where we stand - other platforms have not been ruled out but nothing has been confirmed."
Therefore, right now Haze is exclusive until Christmas... and then might or might not be.

Free Radical has released new info on the way that the players can kill their enemies...
1. Nectar Grenade: By ripping the Nectar pack off the back of a dead soldier, you can strap it onto a grenade. When it goes off, the cloud of yellow gas will make any Mantel trooper in the vicinity overdose.
2. Nectar Knife: When you make a Nectar Grenade, you can smear the stuff on the blade of your knife. So, if you melee or throw it at someone, they'll overdose.
3. Nectar Pack Shot: The round yellow disc on the back on each Mantel trooper is his Nectar Pack. It's tricky, but if you can get a clear shot or melee it, you'll make it malfunction and pump too much Nectar into the poor bad guy's bloodstream ¿ another overdose situation.

Mantel, Promised Hand (Rebels), and Nectar combat and gadgets revealed.
Whilst games frequently pin their appeal on either the story or the gameplay, it's pretty rare for something to come along that does both. Haze, the new first person shooter from Free Radical Design, is due out on PS3 at the end of this year and looks like it might just do it.

SPOnG caught up with the developers behind Haze, Free Radical, yesterday, and amid all the chat about entering warzones jacked up on drugs and who'd win in a fight between Buddha and Jesus¿, some interesting things were said about the PlayStation Network. Specifically, the joy and the terror provided by the freedom it enables.
