Like the original Half-Life, this sequel has cinematic presentation and a better-than-Hollywood plot written by a legit science fiction author. There are memorable, well-written characters, such as the beautiful scientist Alyx and your friend, Dog. We can't spoil it, but watch for him. Plus, there's a presence in this game; it inspires an ominous unease. Half-Life 2 has an artistic but militaristic feel, and there are some genuinely scary moments, especially if you have any sort of headcrab phobia.

I've been sold by your review, Half-Life has always been a game which I've heard of over and over, but never really explored simply because every time I do I read the words single player FPS and turn away. I've been let down too many times by "classic" and "legendary" fps's, but this sounds good. Interesting weapons, well written story with good characters and voice acting, these are the kinda things I feel most FPS's lack and if as you say and I do trust this site this game has those things, then I'm in. Guna go get myself an Orange Box next time I go on a spending spree.

Gone on my spending spree and this game was well worth the very very small amount of money I spent on it considering i got picked up an Orange Box for 15 quid, and it comes with 5 games (now thats what I call value for money :D).

Its great, plays a bit like a movie but in a good, exiting, exliterating way. Beggining is brilliant, havent finished it yet and its got a bit flat (i use the word bit in the strongest possible sence of the word, its still fkin awesom, and I fully anticipate there to be a great ending...

ok... great value for money except now the steam price has just dropped to 10 bucks... ah well, u win some, u loose some, although they're all great games so its hardly a massive loss...
