Celebrating what is now the fourth annual Guild Wars Halloween event, ArenaNet has just announced the return of the Mad King and his cheesy sense of humor. Guild Wars players can rejoice in the fact that this event will bring with it the best features of the previous years, including the popular Costume Brawl which was first introduced during last year's event.
Massively: "If you're a long time fan of Guild Wars, or you're just finely-tuned into the realm of MMO news as any good Massively reader should be, you may remember some controversy that erupted last year regarding a blog that claimed to be written by a disgruntled former employee of ArenaNet. This blog supposedly outed ArenaNet for working with gold farmers in some elaborate scheme to make the company more money, undercut the dedicated player-base and massacre hundreds of thousands of small fluffy bunnies. Okay, we may have exaggerated a bit on that last one."
Yesterday's skill balance and update for Guild Wars brought with it some large changes for arguably overpowered skills, bug fixes and the addition of the newest Zaishen Reward tonic for September. Despite the creepy appearance of that new Macabre Tonic creature, the main topic on everyone's mind is the change to the Unyielding Aura Elite skill.
GuildWars.com: "To celebrate the release of Guild Wars Trilogy and a new 2008 version of Guild Wars Game of the Year Edition, we're adding two new allied NPCs to the mix: M.O.X. the golem hero and the Fire Imp combat ally."
Guild Wars players have been anxiously awaiting this large skill balance for a long time, but many weren't expecting this much of a change. Not only have many key skills been buffed, but the nerfing of Ursan Blessing has finally happened. Plus, Guild versus Guild battles have been drastically changed. As with any gameplay changes, there are those who love it, and those who hate it.

Guild Wars Bonus Mission Pack, a package which includes four new missions, is now available for $9.99 / €8.99 / £5.99, ArenaNet announced. Most MMO players know the story of IGE and Affinity Media by now, (the owners of WoWhead, Allakhazam, Thottbot and WoWinterface), and their relationship. A really interesting article popped up on Radar Online today which highlights some of the dodgy characters that are involved in the Affinity Media business which had claimed to have no involvement with IGE. Brock Pierce who is an advisor and a board member of Affinity Media, is highlighted in the above article and I have to say there's some pretty unsavoury stuff here pointing at child abuse. This has been brought up before regarding Brock Pierce who has apparently denied charges but there are filed legal cases which he has tried to settle.
