Guild Wars players have been anxiously awaiting this large skill balance for a long time, but many weren't expecting this much of a change. Not only have many key skills been buffed, but the nerfing of Ursan Blessing has finally happened. Plus, Guild versus Guild battles have been drastically changed. As with any gameplay changes, there are those who love it, and those who hate it.
The first game was released in '05, so the 5mil mark was reached within three years.
Going from dark horse to multi-million seller, Guild Wars has been the Cinderella story of the MMO world, battling against the heavyweights of WoW and EverQuest II for supremacy - and holding its own. Art director Daniel Dociu certainly has got a lot to do with this success. Weve cornered him to find out more about how the look and styles of Guild Wars, and the new expansion pack Eye of the North, came about. All the while wondering where weve seen that face ...

Most MMO players know the story of IGE and Affinity Media by now, (the owners of WoWhead, Allakhazam, Thottbot and WoWinterface), and their relationship. A really interesting article popped up on Radar Online today which highlights some of the dodgy characters that are involved in the Affinity Media business which had claimed to have no involvement with IGE. Brock Pierce who is an advisor and a board member of Affinity Media, is highlighted in the above article and I have to say there's some pretty unsavoury stuff here pointing at child abuse. This has been brought up before regarding Brock Pierce who has apparently denied charges but there are filed legal cases which he has tried to settle.

In related news, there has been paperwork filed this week where IGE admits that it is Affinity Media (see additional link). Not that anyone doubted it. Next time you hit up an Affinity Media site, just think about who you are supporting and who's pockets your traffic is lining with cash.
After all, stories of shame are posted all over the internet. But we still find ourselves getting groped on a regular basis. And yes, we still find it hilarious.

We've collected our favorite encounters with sexually frustrated gamers barking up the wrong tree. The stories are real, but all names are made up to protect those involved from dying from plus 10 piercing damage ...
Generally bad things, really, but not so much in the case of Guild Wars. NCsoft has just announced that the 2 year-old fantasy MMO has just surpassed the four million sold mark. No telling what the figures are on how many of those players bought the game, played it for a month and then quit like Mike Fahey ended up doing, but impressive numbers nonetheless. Just ask GameStop's Doug Bob McKenzie.
The original Guild Wars Prophecies showed the world that massively-multiplayer online role-playing games can be successful without monthly fees and shook up the standard business model set by Sony and Blizzard. Guild Wars Factions has something to offer for both Guild Wars gurus and new players alike with new story missions, two professions, an additional PvP mode and a whole new continent to explore.

Factions is a stand-alone campaign, meaning that you wont need the original Guild Wars ...
Right now, players around the world are dancing... naked. Whether it's WoW, EverQuest, or Guild Wars, most MMOs show your character in their underwear after you remove all of their equipment. Combine a near nude avatar with an animated dance emote - commonly activated by typing "/dance" - and you have yourself a naked dancer.

There's something about taking off all your clothes that's irresistible to many MMO players. Go into a major town in almost any game and you're bound to see a fair share ...
Information on Guild Wars 2 has appeared in the forums of a website called Guild Wars Guru, taken from the May issue of PC Gamer which has extensive coverage on ArenaNet's MMOG series.

The lengthy post reveals a considerable amount, including the fact that ArenaNet is ditching the campaign format of Guild Wars for the sequel and that a Guild Wars 2 beta is expected to begin in 2008.

It's mentioned the sequel will be set "Hundreds of years later, in Tyria," and that what are termed ...

This pack will be named Eye of the North and is said to cost less than the previous expansion packs (three) that NCSoft developed for Guild Wars. If you've played the Prophecies, then you be pleased to know that Eye of the North takes place where that one left off.
NCSoft's massively multiplayer expansion pack Guild Wars Factions will hit PC this spring, expanding the game's geography and gameplay features. We've got some lush new images of the terrific topology that Guild Wars gamers will be exploring.

These shots show the new continent of Cantha, a fascinating Asian-inspired land. This country has seas of solid jade, a hostile petrified forest and an atmospheric mix of Eastern mysticism, karmic-like teachings and a seedy, unwholesome underbelly to the ...
