Grand Theft Auto San Andreas settles back into its familiar slot at number one, this week fighting off an offensive from the latest Medal of Honor game, European Assault, which enters the chart at number two.

However, EA's wartime FPS is certainly a close second, selling just 1846 fewer copies than Rockstar's gangster chronicle, which received a boost in sales last week when it was released for Xbox and PC.

Electronic Arts further increases its presence in the top 10 thanks to movie tie-in Batman Begins, which swoops in at number six, although as the movie gains momentum we fully expect it to wing its way up the pecking order.

THQ will undoubtedly be pleased with the performance of Juiced, which the company pulled from the wreckage of defunct publisher Acclaim. The street racer zooms straight in to number three, proving that car-modding is still popular amongst gamers - especially PS2 owners, who account for 72% of its overall sales.

A handful of quality new releases this Friday should impact on next week's chart, including Rare's absolutely nuts Conker Live and Uncut; Tekken 5, which heralds a return to form for Namco's fisticuffs series; THQ's extra-terrestrial B-movie blastathon Destroy All Humans; while EA continues its celebration of modern combat with Battlefield 2.
