Rockstar's Twitter feed promised 'lots of announcements' yesterday. Curiously enough, the biggest announcement may have been a much more subtle reveal. Because the image accompanying the details of the Gay Tony trailer shows someone falling out of a helicopter.

And while the image is too dark to clearly tell, it looks very much like he's wearing a parachute, and that the fall is entirely of his own choosing.

Take-Two and Rockstar are expected to release two brand new downloadable episodes for Grand Theft Auto IV in fiscal 2010, and release GTA V the following financial year.

That's according to analyst Todd Mitchell, who told GamesIndustry.biz that following the release of Xbox 360 exclusives The Lost and the Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony, two all-new episodes are due – possibly across both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 platforms.

Take-Two issuing over 2.8 million shares to Housers, key studio members following GTAIV's 13 million unit shipment.

GTAIV's sucess bodes well for top Rockstar management, including studio cofounders Sam and Dan Houser and the game's producer, Leslie Benzies. As part of their contract renegotiations announced in December, the Housers and other top Rockstar personnel were offered a stock-based profit-sharing arrangement in order to retain their services until January 31, 2012.

Related to that deal, Take-Two revealed yesterday that it plans to enumerate "certain employees of Rockstar Games" with 2,849,003 in restricted shares in the company during its current fiscal year, which ends October 31, 2009. Take-Two notes that the stock issuance is not yet final, as stockholders will be required to approve the compensation at the company's annual meeting on April 23.

Award season in the gaming industry isn't over just year. The Entertainment Merchants Association today announced its Video Game Home Entertainment Awards, with Rockstar Games' Grand Theft Auto IV taking home the retailer trade group's Game of the Year honors.

The blood-spattered immigrant tale also claimed the Action/Adventure Game of the Year category, but was bested by a pair of games in terms of award quantity. Nintendo's Wii Fit earned three awards from the retailer group--Most Innovative Game of the Year, Wii Game of the Year, and Casual Game of the Year. Meanwhile, Activision's Call of Duty: World at War took home its own trio of honors as the PlayStation 3 Game of the Year, Xbox 360 Game of the Year, and Military/Shooter Game of the Year.

Kotaku: "We've gotten more than one note that Grand Theft Auto IV bats are arriving as prizes for a contest no one was ever told they'd won.

At least, that's what we think this is. Maybe it's a message? Way back in the 1980s I saw this episode of Philip Marlowe: Private Eye on HBO and it said that the mob sent pencils to victims of the next planned hit, because it meant their name had been crossed off a list. Maybe sending a bat means Major Nelson drafted you in a Rotisserie league.

Actually, it's one of two thousand second-place prizes in a sweepstakes nearly 10 months old, and either the winners of the lesser prizes weren't told or the email announcing got spamfiltered. Either way, 10 months is way overdue, even for free stuff.

The prize bat looks a little different from the swag bat McWhertor got back in June, which looked pinkish/bluish and had a bloodspatter rendered on it. This sucker's shiny al-u-min-ium as the Brits say, and ready to knock a double in your next beer league game. I'm sure someone will stick theirs on eBay.

Live at the SpikeTV Video Game Awards, the winner for best game of the year was just announced. The title for 2008 now belongs to Grand Theft Auto IV. GTA IV PC: Camera/Keyboard Bug Issue with New Patch (News)

Yesterday's patch release for GTA IV's PC version brought new problems for some users, such as a stuck key/input issue that leaves your head spinning. For real. Rockstar's suggested a fix.

GTAForums are alive with complaints of unresolved bugs, even new ones, so if you're seeing the same kinds of things, you're probably not alone. However, the look/spin issue is the only one Rockstar's commenting on so far.

GTA IV PC: Patch One Released (News)

Rockstar heard us and listened, they are now delivering: a new patch for the PC version of Grand Theft Auto IV is available for download. To get the 32.6Mb update, simply start your game, log into LIVE, and select to update when prompted. The patch is reported to make the following changes:

* A fix to the crash after legal screen that some German customers were reporting.
* Numerous improvements to the video editor: Smarter naming of videos, improved rendering quality, better fx during replays.
* Fix to bowling while using certain sensitive mice.
* Fix for ATI 1900 shadows.
* Overall savings to memory.
* Graphic improvements to particle systems and mirrors.
* Multiplayer character settings are preserved.
* Support for DirectInput controllers.

As Kotaku has established, Grand Theft Auto IV on the PC is all kinds of broken. People are upset, people demand action. Well, people, action is coming. Rockstar announced today the details of their upcoming patch.

The patch - which addresses problems Rockstar claim are affecting only "one percent" of users (uh, no) - will do things like fix ATi problems, stop a number of crashes and repair issues the game had with power management.

Santa Claus is back and that is also a nice moment to see what the game was popular during the search for gifts goedheiligman in the Netherlands. Besides Call of Duty World at War for all platforms is also Mario Kart for the Nintendo Wii and Grand Theft Auto for the PC very popular.

In the first place is Mario Kart for the Wii. While the game already 32 weeks in the charts appears knows the game with an enormous amount of Saint Nicholas to sell. GTA IV PC: Modding Archive Now Available (News)

In light of the release of the first PC mod yesterday for GTA IV on PC and the release of the mod launcher this morning I have created an archive that will be contain as many mods as possible for Grand Theft Auto IV, so far there are only five files but expect this number to grow dramatically over the next few months.

It has not been a good week for PC fans of the Grand Theft Auto series. The latest title in the open world crime action series, Grand Theft Auto IV, has been plagued with bugs since its release. It's gotten so bad that folks who purhased and downloaded the game via Valve's Steam service can now ask for a refund, something that Valve rarely offers.

Meanwhile, Nvidia has released a new beta graphics driver for its GeForce products for not just GTA IV but also for SLI improvements in Left 4 Dead and issues with World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King. The 180.84 beta drivers are in Windows XP and Vista versions (both 32 and 64-bits). Thanks FiringSquad. An ATI driver update is expected next week.

Speaking to VideoGamer.com at a recent press event in London, Wheelman creative director Simon Woodroffe revealed that Rockstar Games' Grand Theft Auto IV has changed what gamers expect from an open world action title.

"Our game was already quite different, but GTA 4 moved the bar in terms of what people expected from an open-world driving game," said Woodroffe. "Before GTA 4, open-world driving games generally had more accessible, more arcade-like, handling. Even the previous GTAs were like that. Rockstar Games is no stranger to Australia's strict videogame classification regime. Even before the company's highly anticipated title Grand Theft Auto IV hit shelves worldwide in April this year, rumours of edits to the Australian Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions began to circulate. Rockstar confirmed the rumours, saying that they had made voluntary content cuts that were "not significant" to the overall product in order to satisfy the guidelines enforced by the local ratings body--the Australian Office of Film and Literature Classification (OFLC)--which is now called the Classification Board.
