Matt Stanyon reports 'I've just had a progress report sent over from Keith, the lead developer of the major modification for Vice City and San Andreas, this mod is called GTA: Sate of Liberty and it basically brings all of the islands including Liberty City, Vice City and San Andreas together and makes them....'

WSBTV writes: "Fulton County officials said they have arrested three teens and charged them with 57 felony counts in connection with a recent series of car bombings with Molotov cocktails in the city of Milton, north of Atlanta.

The felony charges include arson, criminal damage to property and possession of explosive devices in six vehicle fires between 11 p.m. July 24 and 3 a.m. July 25. Each teen is charged with 19 counts.

Officials said the teens -- ages 15 and 16 -- told authorities they learned "how to do it" from playing the video game 'Grand Theft Auto.'"

A state court has rejected a move to reinstate a wrongful death suit which sought $600 million from PS2 manufacturer Sony and Grand Theft Auto: Vice City publisher Take-Two Interactive. The game played by a teenager who killed three of his family members in 2004.

The killings occurred on newsman Sam Donaldson's ranch in southern New Mexico.

The lawsuit had alleged that the video game "Grand Theft Auto: Vice City" contributed to the killings because Cody Posey played the game "obsessively" and it trained him to act out the violence when he shot and killed his father, stepmother and stepsister in July 2004. He was 14 at the time of the killings.

The Australian writes:

"The (Australian) Government could approve an R rating category for the computer and video game industry by the end of the year in the wake of debate over the censorship of the contentious game Grand Theft Auto IV.

The Office of Film and Literature Classification ordered sex scenes to be cut from the game for it to meet the highest available rating for computer games, MA15+. While the sex scenes have been edited out of the Australian version, graphic violence and drug use - a central element of the GTA series - remain untouched.

Greg Bondar, chief executive of the Game Developers Association of Australia, said he believed the furore over the rating of the game had taken the debate to a new level that would force the Government's hand.

In March, more than two months before the release of the game, Home Affairs Minister Bob Debus announced a review of the games classification system to be administered by the Victorian Attorney-General.

A discussion paper on the review is expected to be released in coming weeks."

"Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter believes that the PS3 outsold the Xbox 360 in the US during April, while monthly software sales hit $830 million, up 113 percent on last April's total.

Ahead of the NPD Group's April videogame sales data release, expected this Thursday after market close, Pachter forecast that Nintendo once again came out on top in terms of hardware sales, shifting 600,000 Wii consoles and 550,000 DS systems. He cited greater Wii and DS availability in his investor note as contributing factors to the systems' sales success. He also said he expects the PS3 to have outsold the Xbox 360 by 290,000 units to 275,000..."

Rockstar Games and Valve announced a deal that makes Rockstar's entire PC catalog of games available on Steam. In true Valve fashion, those games are already available for purchase and download and during the first week, Rockstar is giving gamers a 10% discount.

Grand Theft Auto 3 Trilogy To Be Available on Steam? (News)

"Steam has been picking up¿city crims. The Grand Theft Auto 3 Trilogy might be making its way to Steam for download. The GTA1 & 2 have been up for download online for years, but it would be quite the gift from Rockstar to get these more recent titles. However, the release of the GTA trilogy isn't yet certain. The games have only had a phantom appearance on Steam, with only their title and a $0 price tag. When they are available for download we doubt they'll be free like their predecessors.

With GTA 3, Vice City and San Andreas on Steam, what could come after but the next generation sequel, Grand Theft Auto 4. If this is in the pipelines, expect to see it a year or so down the line after the initial console release."

Rockstar's entire catalogue of PC titles, from the Grand Theft Auto series to Max Payne, is now available for download from IGN's Direct2Drive service. This is the first time any of the publisher's games have been made available in digital form.

"We are excited to be opening our archives," said Rowan Hajaj, Head of Finance and Corporate Development of Rockstar Games. "For the first time, fans will have the chance to explore our catalog of original, groundbreaking PC titles at the press of a button."

An exhibition entitled "Love & Money: The Best Of British Design Now" is touring Asian countries currently. The synopsis is below:

"...Love & Money, organised jointly by the British Council and UK Trade & Investment, features twenty projects and designers that balance business ambition and commercial success with the invention and experimentation for which Britain's creative industries are internationally renowned."

Within the exhibition is a space dedicated to Rockstar Games' Grand Theft Auto Series.

GTA is considered to be a benchmark for modern design values. This is a very positive nod towards gaming and in particular one with such a criticized content.
