On Friday, Stardock CEO Brad Wardell revealed to Edge that his company is developing a non-intrusive copyright security solution for external publishers.

The initiative came in the wake of The Gamer's Bill of Rights, which implores game makers to ditch obnoxious copy protection methods. Stardock has been an advocate of non-intrusive copy protection for years, selling commercially successful games such as Galactic Civilizations and Sins of a Solar Empire that have no copy protection.

But as Stardock approached major publishers to agree to the terms of the Bill, they were still unwilling to go DRM-free.

Turn-based strategy games may seem dramatically old school next to their flashy RTS cousins (like Company of Heroes), but when they work as well as Stardock’s Galactic Civilizations II, we’ll happily enroll. GalCiv 2: Twilight of the Arnor is the second and final expansion pack for the critically acclaimed 4X (eXplore, eXpand, eXploit, eXterminate) space conquest game, and it makes delivering one of the most fulfilling strategy ...

You won't find any big breasted babes or recycled Warcraft-in-space gameplay here for mass appeal's sake. Galactic Civilizations II: Twilight of the Arnor sticks to what the series does best with deep 4X turn-based space strategy and more technology to research, ships to build, and planets to conquer.

But try explaining how Galactic Civilizations can mesmerize you with menus and endless branches of tech, and the person you're talking too will probably walk away mid-sentence. ...
