FIFA 08 - what's new for PS3 and 360?

First screenshots and new features inside

Building blocks
The game is to feature an “organic building block” system for enabling you to combine tricks and skill moves to recreate superstars' signature moves. Animations can be interrupted at any time, enabling you to elude your marker with skill and improvisation.

Interactive Leagues
This was seen last year in last-gen versions of the game. Go online and represent your club against your friends, in sync with real clubs' matches in four leagues. That's the FA Premiere League, Bundesliga, French League and Mexican 1st Division. Um... can we swap Mexico for Serie-A, please?

Full license
Bit of a no-brainer, here. 620 licensed teams, 30 leagues and more than 15,000 players will be included on PS3 and 360, making FIFA 08 some 20% larger than the 07 version on old-gen formats.

Above: Wayne Rooney looks ready to tear apart the Chelsea defense... can you stop him?

The game will be heading to every major console this autumn – so that means no Xbox or GameCube versions this time round. We'll have details of the old-gen versions (because we really should call 360 and PS3 current-gen now) soon. In the meantime, hit the Images tab and check out the first screens of the “big” versions.
