If not for the annoying, checkpoint-based, save-game system, it would be difficult to find fault with the single player campaign at all. Multiplayer could use some work, but it will get the job done for deathmatch fans.

Check your shooter shelf; if you don’t see Far Cry next to your first-person favorites, do something about it. With its excellent tech and liberating freedom, Far Cry deserves an honored spot in your arsenal.

  • Island levels are simply amazing
  • AI is rarely this good
  • Sneak or blast your way through
You'll hate
  • Multiplayer modes are a bit thin
  • Voice acting is laughably terrible
  • Dreaded checkpoint-based save system
