PC - Far Cry 2 - Far Cry 2 Details Get Hazy Kotaku reports:

While video games often present a clean and polished atmosphere, Far Cry 2 presents a world that "isn't this clean, sterile, digital representation of Africa." Guns jam and wounds that are left untreated become fatal. As for leveling up your character, that plotline begins to sound a but like Haze.

PC - Far Cry 2 - CES: Ubisoft titles to support amBX Ubisoft has confirmed today at CES in Las Vegas that it will include Philip's amBX tech in some of its major upcoming titles.

amBX allows developers to include "surround sense" elements in games through various peripherals, including light, colour, sound, rumble and air flow through enabled devices like fans and LED-powered lights.

The tech is being shown at CES working on both Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway and Far Cry 2, which were recently delayed by Ubisoft until the next fiscal year beginning April 2008.

Jan 3, 2008 In one of its traditional ten-minutes-'til-home-time press releases, Ubisoft has revealed that the sequel to Far Cry will be coming to Xbox 360 and PS3 as well as PC. The Africa-set follow-up recently saw a month delay, putting its release back to March - though from what little we've seen of it so far we'll be impressed if it even makes it out that early. It's nice to see that home consoles at least aren't getting a watered-down port this time around (not that Instincts was at ... » Read More

Nov 20, 2007 In March 1898, two maneless Tsavo man-eating lions preyed on workers during the construction of the Ugandan railway. The pair, part of a testosterone-charged sub-species of lion local to the area, killed an estimated 135 people - their efforts later immortalized in the Val Kilmer film The Ghost and the Darkness. In late July of this year five men from Ubisoft Montreal were spending a night under canvas in the same area. “We couldnt see anything - we just heard an elephant ... » Read More

Nov 12, 2007 Set in the African savannah, Far Cry 2 is full of interesting features - from the roaming wildlife to the astonishingly real spread of fire through the tinder-dry foliage. It's also, according to artistic director Alexandre Amancio, "filled with shit". Ubisoft sent its artistic team to the actual, God's-own, real Africa so as to get a handle on how it felt to be in such an exotic locale, from the sounds and sights to, it seems, the smells. "The first thing we noticed when we set ... » Read More

PC - Far Cry 2 - A Look at Far Cry 2 Creative Director Clint Hocking's Critique of BioShock Clint Hocking: "To cut straight to the heart of it, Bioshock seems to suffer from a powerful dissonance between what it is about as a game, and what it is about as a story. By throwing the narrative and ludic elements of the work into opposition, the game seems to openly mock the player for having believed in the fiction of the game at all. The leveraging of the game's narrative structure against its ludic structure all but destroys the player's ability to feel connected to either, forcing the player to either abandon the game in protest (which I almost did) or simply accept that the game cannot be enjoyed as both a game and a story, and to then finish it for the mere sake of finishing it".

PC - Far Cry 2 - PAX 07: The Far Cry 2 public demo They inform Joysiq that there will be no visual or audio recording during the FarCry 2 demo. Developer Clint Hocking is on the stage, having flown to Seattle from Leipzig for this one, single demo. They've reserved the first two rows for press, eager to ensure their forfeiture of sleep doesn't go unrewarded. The screen is showing a Windows desktop with a big, shiny FarCry 2 logo. Carolyn Carnes opens up, reminding us there is no recording equipment (OR ELSE!), asking us to turn our cellphones off, reminding us this is a pre-alpha (read: if something goes wrong, it's early!) and of course, they won't be able to answer everything during the Q&A session.

They gave a limited demonstration of the game at Leipzig, but this will be the definitive unveiling of the game. She intros Clint, notes he was the lead developer of Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory (someone yells out, "Oh yeahhhh!") and creative director of the FarCry 2 project. He's been on the project for over 2 years now, starting with a small team of eight guys working to determine how to make a sequel worthy of the original. They went into production three months ago and "aren't even alpha." They're targeting first quarter 2008.

Aug 24, 2007 Here we have new(ish) screenshots from Far Cry 2, many of which are used to show off the new game engine Ubisoft has developed for the first-person shooter sequel. PC - Far Cry 2 - Far Cry 2 coming to Xbox 360? GameSpot found a listing for an Xbox 360 edition of Ubisoft's upcoming PC game Far Cry 2. The original Far Cry was a hit for the publisher upon its release for 2004, and the first-person shooter quickly made its way to consoles. However, much like the game's menagerie of mutated mercenaries, the game had been changed along the way. The Xbox played host to Far Cry Instincts and Far Cry Instincts Evolution, while the franchise burst into the new generation of hardware with Far Cry Instincts Predator on the Xbox 360 and Far Cry Vengeance for the Wii. While the GameFly listing offers no description of the game, the fact that the title has remained unchanged suggests that the online rental service expects the Xbox 360 game to be fundamentally the same game as the PC edition.

Below is the second and concluding half of our look at Far Cry 2. Click here if you missed the first part. Far Cry wouldn't be Far Cry without a heavy dose of jungle. While you will be crawling on your belly through the forest, it's not all-consuming like before. The canopy opens up and there are large expanses of open ground where there's hardly a piece of bark in sight. "It was an absolute requirement that Far Cry 2 maintain the exoticism [of the original game]," explains Pharand. "The ... » Read More

Jack Carver isn't here. The monstrous Trigens are gone and that tropical island from the original game is over a thousand miles away. Instead, we're on the sprawling plains of the African savannah, and our enemies are angry humans and hungry wildlife. Far Cry as you know it is dead: long live Far Cry 2. If it's not white beaches or slathering mutants, what is it? In short, everything. Far Cry 2 is hugely, impossibly ambitious. The first hints of the setting - or settings - that Ubisoft is using as the backdrop for the action in FPS Far Cry 2 have arrived via concept art that's slipped out onto the internet.
