The limited, Amazon.com exclusive edition of Fallout 3 has mysteriously re-surfaced. The Fallout 3 Survival Edition was up for pre-order back in early June 2008. Pre-orders were quickly snagged, with the PLAYSTATION 3 version selling out its inventory first. The MSRP from Amazon on these were $129.99. After the game launched in the end of October, they were not available for ordering any more. At one point these were hitting the $200-$300 range on eBay. Well just recently, Amazon has restocked the Fallout 3 Survival Edition for all platforms.

Kotaku writes:
"A Google Maps mashup that is building into a handy guide to the post-apocalyptic landscape with the help of community-minded gamers.
It is still incomplete (Fallout 3 is huge) but there are a lot of mission, ammo and interesting location pushpins already added. You can add your own if you discover something cool and of course you can turn off whole categories of data if you want to avoid mission spoilers but would still like to know if there is anything worth bothering about over that hill."

Fallout 3

October was a big month for PC gamers because, unlike previous months where Blizzard and Maxis have owned the charts, there were several high profile PC-centric games releasing, including Fallout 3, Far Cry 2, Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3, and Crysis: Warhead.
Well, the NPD Group has released the monthly figures for PC titles, and it contains a couple surprises.

"I saw so much promise in Microsoft's ambitious-but-doomed Live Anywhere initiative when it was first unveiled at E3 2006, though since then, Microsoft has dealt with backlash against charging for services that PC players were accustomed to getting for free and limited publisher adoption, as well as the rapidly growing popularity of Valve's community-anointed Steam service. Microsoft acknowledged that things weren't going swimmingly back in July, when it announced that it would be making all of its Live services on the PC free, and it continues to retool its PC gaming efforts by giving its Games for Windows - Live client a bit of an overhaul." - Giantbomb.com Editor, Ryan

With all the attention being paid to the vaunted New Xbox Experience interface that will launch later this month for the Xbox 360, Microsoft quietly updated the Games for Windows - Live client today. The update doesn't introduce any new functionality--that is planned later on with the release of a desktop client as well as the Games for Windows - Live Marketplace. However, the update does give the GFW - Live client a whole new look that's better suited for PCs...

Fallout 3

Kotaku writes:
Developer Bethesda has made changes to the Japanese Fallout 3. The side-quest The Power of the Atom has been changed. Non-playable-character Mr. Burke has been taken out of this side-quest, removing the option of detonating the nuclear bomb. That's not all, the name of a weapon was changed as it was deemed "inappropriate" for Japan. Smart money says the weapon is mini-nuke launcher "Fat Man" for obvious reasons. The online reaction from the Japanese users seems to be largely disappointment to these edits. Fallout 3 goes on sale in Japan this December.

Glitches galore apparently... Fallout 3 isn't quite up to par on the PlayStation 3, if forums awash with enraged players are to be taken as indicative. Fans of the new game are more than a little miffed by some of the technical issues being reported around the PlayStation version of the new RPG-FPS.
Apparently, the title is the frequent victim of locks-ups, slowdown and other irritants. Bethesda have yet to reply, but if these incidents turn out to be widespread, one would expect a quick-fire patch and a few apologies.
You can enjoy all this unhappiness for yourself via the forums in question.

Fallout 3

Mike Fahey of Kotaku writes:
"Complaints of choppy frame rates and graphical glitches are peppered throughout Bethesda's forums for the game, with others complaining about random lock ups and various other issues - textures not loading, significant slowdown etc. Two major bugs have already been addressed by Bethesda in the forums, one concerning the game freezing during the GOAT test earlier in the game, and another dealing with the game pausing whenever a PS3 notification occurs. The first issue can apparently be solved by saving and restarting, while they suggest turning off notifications in the XMB for the second. "
