Vanguard: Saga of Heroes - Special Report (Day 1)

Your character is whatever you make it - and you've got a ridiculous amount of options

Words: Gabe Graziani, GamesRadar US

Vanguard: Saga of Heroes bears one of the richest character customization systems in the vast universe of MMOs. Boasting nineteen races and fifteen classes, you're faced with overwhelming possibilities before you even start playing. In addition, for those that love tweaking their digi-persona's features, Vanguard provides a ton of sliders that give you complete control over every aspect from facial deformations to body physique shaping.

Five different sliders for shaping your ears? To say Vanguard enables a ridiculous degree of character customization is an understatement

Right out of the gate, Vanguard separates itself from other games of its kind by providing a key innovation for character creation. While your choice of races will limit your choice of class (a Kurashasa cat-person can't be a Paladin, for example), you can select your class first so that you'll know at a glance what races are suited to the kind of character you want to play. Simple touches like these that prove that the team behind Vanguard has crossed every "t" and dotted every "i."
