Top 7... Worst celebrity voiceovers

Witness the most horrific performances from famous folk in the history of gaming

Words: Tyler Nagata, GamesRadar US

The Game: Spy Hunter: Nowhere to Run (PS2)
The Star: The Rock, Dwayne Douglas Johnson as Alex Decker

The Rock can wrestle, The Rock can play lead roles in bad action movies, and The Rock can refer to himself in the third person like nobody’s business. But when it comes to his voiceover performance in Spy Hunter: Nowhere to Run, The Rock fails to let his inner superstar shine through.

It’s strange in that Dwayne Douglas Johnson isn’t his usual badass self when playing the game’s hero, Alex Decker. Instead of sounding like the sort of guy who can deliver a brutal beat down of epic proportions, Johnson sounds surprisingly polite.

In fact, Johnson’s amiable nature in Spy Hunter: Nowhere to Run makes him sound like an old friend: the kind of guy that we could just call out of the blue to come over and help us move. And we’d bet the bank that Johnson would cancel his weekend plans on a moment’s notice to help us. That’s how nice he sounds. It’s a good thing that developers included an animation of Johnson’s patented single raised eyebrow, or we’d easily forget that Alex Decker’s voice belongs to one of the buffest guys in the world of wrestling. The script’s typical tough guy lines can’t hide the overwhelming sense that Alex Decker is hands down the friendliest and most affable professional killer videogames has to offer.
