You’ll Love
The Burning Crusade also unlocks the new jewel crafting profession, allowing you to create various gems that can endow socketed items with extra bonuses. Want to turn that sword into a weapon suitable for a Rogue? Throw some gems with agility bonuses in there to increase the weapon’s attack rating. Tired of running out of mana? Fill that same sword with spirit or intelligence boosting gems instead. Like enchanters, jewel crafters can look forward to raking in the gold for their services as they can augment all sorts of equipment to maximize your character’s stats and abilities.

You’ll Hate
Unless you want to pay an arm and a leg in gold at the auction house for the ore you’ll need to craft gems, you’d better take up mining as your second profession. If you’ve never been a miner, then you’re about to discover the joy of finding a rare vein in the wild, and watching another player swoop in to steal your ore while you finish off the last monster that was guarding it. Have fun.
