Time to complete

12-15 hours – but it really depends on how familiar you are with Lara’s tomb- leaping world and whether you get really stuck (which you shouldn’t if you use this guide to help you along!)

Most challenging level

Egypt’s door slamming, post jumping, razor wire traps will have you restarting again and again. And the end level’s timed lava jumping sections are enough to get you cursing Lara’s good name.

Stuck with no way out?

You’ll spend a large part of Tomb Raider shut in a room with no apparent way out. Always check the walls for ledges and grappling points. If you repeatedly try to make a jump and it doesn’t work, chances are there’s another way. There are quite a few red herrings in those tombs.

On to the guide!

Peru

Level 1: Mountain Caves

Jump up the ledges on the wall to the left of the door. At the top, turn left and go through the door. Shoot the dastardly wolves inside the room, go to the last doorway on the left and use the poles to swing to the other side.

Go through the next doorway and climb the ledge to your right. Jump back onto the pole – it’ll swing round so you can jump onto a stone switch; very handy, eh? Drop down once you’ve pulled it all the way.

Return to the door quickly (the switch is on a timer). Climb the ledges to the left of the door again. At the top, climb the next set of ledges, shimmy right and jump to the second stone switch. Return to the door and stand on the big pressure switch.

Level 2: City of Vilcabamba

Jump into the water beneath the waterfall. Swim through the tunnel just below the surface. Swim to the end then pull the lever on the wall in front of you. Quickly surface and climb out of the water to advance.

Climb the steps and jump the gap through the adjacent doorway. Drop down into the room and push the crate in the gap in front of you. Follow the path round to a key. Get out of the hut by shooting the double doors.

Go left and left and use the key to get through the gate. The next door is simple to open – just follow the tunnels to the left, then the right, to the end and jump onto the jutting out switches at the end, which will rotate round and open the door.
