Crysis

How will Crysis look on a regular rig?

We asked the developers and got some surprising answers. See our videos and decide for yourself in our insider's interview

Words: Tyler Nagata, GamesRadar US

GR: Are you going to play any Halo tonight?

Hübler: Not tonight. But yeah, we'll check if someone has it in the office has it and try it. You know, of course we're excited about it too...

GR: This is a pretty big year for first-person shooters. Are there any other ones that you're excited about besides Halo 3?

Hübler: Big shooters... Yeah, I must say I'm looking forward to Call of Duty 4. I guess I want to look at that and play it. I think it looks really good. I mean yeah, I love first-person shooters so there's no way I wouldn't look at Half-Life... it's good to see what other people are doing. It advances the industry in a way you know?

GR: With so many big titles coming out this year - like Crysis, and Halo, and the Orange Box, and Quake Wars - would you consider this a good thing for the first-person shooter genre - to have more competition?

Hübler: I would say so. Definitely for the developer, if there's a lot of competition it's not easy. It's a lot more stress to get your stuff right. On the other side, I think for the player it's the best. I mean whenever you have a monopoly that's not good for the people, because if you just have one big game, there's no competition. So there's no pressure to make it better, or to improve it, or to change it. I think if there are more games it will be a good year. We will see how the genre develops and what people are most excited about. I'm looking forward for next year to see what happens there.

GR: Any final thoughts you'd like to share about Crysis' single player mode and the upcoming demo?

Hübler: I think it's going to be great to release the single player demo… and we're really excited to have the game out soon. We have been developing [Crysis] for a long time and it's going to be nice. It's kind of weird - you know - letting it go, but you have to do it, and it's going to be fun to be able to soon go to a store, see your game there, and know that you did it.
